The Trout family was a family of hoteliers. They were one of the first few families that moved to New Orleans in the 1700s when it was founded by the French. Charles Trout founded the Trout Royal Hotel when they moved to the newly established city. He brought the tradition and experience as a hotelier in France with him when he established the hotel.

The hotel was relatively successful but had to close down in the 1800s because of financial constraints. They sold the land in order to keep their family afloat. The new owners converted the hotel into their own private residence. They were in love with the architecture and designs of the hotel.

In the year 1995, Bartholomew Trout, a descendant of Charles Trout, was able to buy back the hotel grounds. Having been successful in the food industry, he wanted to expand into hotels and gaming. He reopened the Trout Royal Hotel, rebranded as the CT Spin Palace to commemorate his ancestor who moved their family to America and started the business.

Bartholomew Trout partnered with his friend Rufus Bass, who had experience in the hotel and casino industry. Together, they reimagined and redesigned the Trout Royal Hotel to what it is today.
